Sisters in Korea

Sisters in Korea

From the sisters:

It was a long flight 16 hours but we made it safe  and sound. After Hwajung and her father brought us from the airport to John’s we went walking in the area and saw some of  the open air markets where they sell fish and produce. After that we were more than ready for a night’s sleep. On the second day we went to the largest Buddhist temple in Busan, which was beautiful and could have included an overnight night stay if we wanted. Later we had a wonderful traditional dinner at Hwajung’s. Her parents were gracious hosts and we then walked along the beach after and took pictures of a beautiful bridge at night near their home. After the walk we went back to their home where we shared ice wine brought from Canada for the occasion and John and Hwajung announced their engagement.

The next day we went to a beautiful park in another city that has a walk of stones rocks and cement shapes that had to be done in bare feet (Sandy saw it as more of a character builder than she was prepared for and declined the experience).  We have done lots of   of looking and shopping all very enjoyable. We have had a very eventful and great trip so far.

From me:

It has been fun and I’m looking forward to showing off some more of the country over the next couple of weeks. We’ve already seen the school (they were given gifts), one of my favorite traditional Korean restaurants, and my favorite walkway. Sadly, due to construction, the walkway no longer boasts the beautiful graffiti it did not long ago. They ran several km along the path yesterday and today we’ll be checking out the world’s largest department store: Shinsaegae.

Hope you’re taking care out there!
