Happy Halloween!
Posted on 31. Oct, 2009 by Johnathan in Gallery, Special Occasions

So it’s Halloween time again and the ghouls are coming out to play and plunder candy…in some parts of the world. I celebrated by going up to Geumjeong Mtn. with Hwajung to show her first hand what she missed last time. In the spirit of the day, it was dark and overcast, adding a sacrificial altar feel to the massive rocks that adorn the mountain. Like Hwajung, Geumjeong doesn’t feel like showing its beauty on gloomy days. Strange how light can drastically alter something so gorgeous. We left for the hills shortly after 2pm and made it off the mountain past sundown.
Key cultural notes in this post include buses, eating meet, Korean football, gimbap, and burning coals.

Well we had a great night, with the exception of your youngest nephew being sick for part of the night. The kids had a really good time, and we spent some of it trick or treating with Jasmin and Christopher. I will be sending you pictures of them all. The additional monster in the pictures will be our nephew Sean. Katie will be on later today to tell you all about it. It may take a few days to get the pictures to you, but we will get them to you

Yesterday we all went to Ivan’s house it is one of the two haunted houses in grandma and grandpa’s neighborhood. It was just me, Connor and my cousin Sean. I was a ninja pirate, Connor was a little puppy dog ,and Sean was a random monster. We went on to the second haunted house and there was an amazing decoration but it was actually a cake! At the end of the second haunted house there was a vampire in a coffin, my aunt Cora told me to poke the vampire, I did and it jumped out at me. Later on we saw Chris and Jasmin and we all stopped by grandpa’s . Chris was a ninja and Jasmin was a witch .Afterward I went home and stopped by my friends house Amanda and her little sister Jasmin. Their parents spoiled me! Then I asked my mom if I could go around the block, she told me that I could if I grabbed extra for Connor.
We had a really good time!

Sounds like you really did have a happy Halloween! I guess you can’t go wrong with a ninja costume. What was your favorite candy that you got? Cora must be Chris’s sister. I don’t think I’ve heard of her before.
And in unrelated news, congratulations on doing well on your quizzes. Keep up the good work!

Chris’ oldest sister, who is 14 months younger than Chris, is Cora. Her husband is Aaron and the kids are Chris and Sean. There are 8 kids in Chris family, by his dad, but there are 2 more by his biological Mom Judy (married to Jon). Perry is my father in law and Sonja is his wife, and the only mom Chris has really ever had. His biological mother is Judy. Perry has Chris, Cora, Denise, Joshua, Nathan, Joseph, Danielle, and Natasha. Chris’ oldest sister is his whole sister, and they have Natacha and Clayton as siblings as well. I mention this now because you will likely hear a lot of names that won’t be very familiar, and I thought that it would be easier to give you the list now.
Denise (26) is married to Joe (previously to Brian) and has two children Hayden and Autumn. Joshua is going to be nineteen in January. Nathan just turned seventeen in June. Joe will be fifteen in February. Danielle will be twelve in December, and Natasha will be eleven in May.
Natacha is going to be 25 and I believe Clayton is 23. Natacha has Marcus and Rowen and is married to Rob.
We hope that you got the photos that we have sent. We are still planning on sending more. I am just waiting for Cora to get them to me

Sorry! Yes, I did receive your email; I’ve had a lot of things on the go and it’s my fault for not letting you know I got them. Thank you very much. Katherine is growing quite a bit. I guess she’s getting to the main growth spurt in a woman’s life.
If possible, I’d like to get her costume next year. Would that be ok? Of course, she can choose the theme. The little guy looked cute. Nice work on the dog outfit.

I would be happy to have you help Katie with her costume. Katie was really excited about being a ninja pirate, which is a difficult thing to achieve. Mom did Katie’s costume this year, but she misunderstood what Katie wanted to be and turned her into a ninja turtle pirate. We don’t usually buy her costumes. We normally make them, but it is sometimes difficult with all the balls up in the air, that we have, at once. Mom is amazing. I don’t know how she did what she did when we were little., but I sure do appreciate it now.
Unfortunately, the Dog costume was wrecked before the Hallowe’en party at work, but we fixed it as best we could. I spent a week hand sewing his costume, just to have it rip in minutes. ARGH!
I hope that there will be a good amount of time for you to spend with the kids, Katie is really looking forward to it, and when Connor meets you, he’ll be tickled too!

Quick note about Katie and “growth spurts”. She doesn’t get them. Katie just keeps growing. By the time you see her, she will likely be taller than Mom. Katie is already a half of a head taller than Lorna, and almost the same hight as Rich. She has been complaining about the marks that the constant fast growth is causing, but there isn’t anything that we can do. She has been in women’s sized shoes for over a year and will probably be swapping shoes with me soon. She has always gotten growing pains, but it seems to be evening out now. I hope that she slows down enough to get used to her limbs
