Greatest Eggnog Recipe in the World
Posted on 19. Dec, 2009 by Johnathan in Special Occasions

Here is an absolutely incredible eggnog recipe that I highly recommend for your Christmas gatherings. Easily the best I’ve ever had. I stole it from the Food Network, and I’d do it again. If you have anything to drink this holiday season, put away the water and grab a glass of this stuff.
Ingredients
- 6 egg, separated*
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 pint heavy cream
- 4 pints milk
- 1/2 pint Bourbon (or your favorite spirit)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- Nutmeg
Directions
In a bowl beat the egg yolks with the 1/2 cup of sugar until thick. In another bowl beat the egg whites with 1/4 cup of sugar until thick. In a third bowl beat the cream until thick. Add the cream to the yolks, fold in the egg whites, and add the milk, Bourbon, vanilla, and a pinch of nutmeg, if desired. Chill in freezer before serving.
Even though I add nutmeg to the mixture, I also sprinkle a pinch on top of each glass before serving.
*I know you’re probably thinking raw eggs haven’t been hip since the 80s, but this is worth the salmonella. Trust me.

Would you mind if my workmates used this in our internal cookbook? We are trying to do something special before we leave there

I claim no copyright here. Definitely use it as you will and let me know how it goes. I’ve used it here for a couple of years now, so I’m pretty confident it will be a hit.

JJ. Hello. Cool site. We met the other day at Kebapastan. About the egg nog–where do you find these ingredients in Korea? Are you making it this year. if you are, i want to be your apprentice. sounds delicious.
peace.

Jeff the Apprentice, good to hear from you. Great question about the ingredients. Vanilla is the one that’s really hard to find. My girlfriend found it while gathering ingredients for a birthday cake she made last year. It’s pretty hard to explain and most Koreans have no idea that there’s a vanilla extract (hence I couldn’t find it despite my best efforts), so I’d say give up and go with the powder at Home Plus. You can find everything else there too. I’ll bring out some nutmeg if you’re in the area early next week because that can be a challenge as well. I’ve got enough to go round!
Mix and match the ingredients to your liking, but a variant to the above recipe is adding cinnamon and cocoa. Very tasty. I use the original recipe as a base and then mess with it, so go nuts.

Your eggnog was the best, John. It made the holiday more Christmassy. I also liked the new cups.
Today was my fifth time celebrating with you. (in a row! OMG). Thanks for the wonderful times!

Mom made the eggnog for Christmas. It was good, I find that I prefer rum in my nog, but it was still pleasant, thank you for the recipe!

Katie is totally in love with “Invader Zim” which is about a crazy little mess up of an alien, who ends up trying to invade earth. He goes under cover as a student, with the help of his Robot in a dog suit named GIR. This is the most main stream thing that Jonan Vasquez has ever done, and it’s kind of fun. Anyway, Katie has a GIR hat from the Claus.
